Online Shopping In Malaysia

Technology has permeated all facets of an individual’s existence. The internet made global connectedness simpler for people and created new avenues for communication between distant geographical locations. The number of consumers opting to purchase online has steadily increased over several years. Online retailers including Lelong, Carousel, Zalora, Lazada, 11street, and Shopee have opened up shops in the country to take advantage of this trend. The convenience and increased accessibility of the internet have increased the appeal of these shopping options. Various commentators have vocally criticised the harmful impact these Online Retailers have on the country’s Brick and Mortar Stores. This research seeks to evaluate this assertion and quantify the effects of online stores on the country’s retail sector. In summary, the study indicated that most respondents had experience with online shopping and that convenience and no time constraints are important factors contributing to its success. However, traditional stores may still compete with online stores if they stress their benefits in delivering actual shopping experiences.
