Electric Power Conversion Handbook

The rate per unit time at which the transfer of electrical energy takes place through an electric circuit is known as electric power. It is usually generated by electric generators but can also be supplied by some other sources such as electric batteries and solar panels. One form of electric energy can be converted into another form and the process is known as power conversion. The electrochemical or electrical device used for the conversion of electrical energy is referred to as power converter. It can convert direct current into alternating current and vice-versa. A power converter can also change the frequency or voltage of the current. The ever growing need of advanced technology is the reason that has fueled the research in the field of electric power conversion in recent times. Most of the topics introduced in this book cover new techniques and the applications of electric power conversion.
